“ I have seen the value of helping others. I believe that the most rewarding part of my job as a broadcaster is not exposing the wrongdoings of others, but the smile and acknowledgment we get from people whose lives we have touched and changed in some wonderful way.” − REYSTER LANGIT |

PROJECTSA KASANGGA HELPING HAND TO THE VICTIMS OF TYPHOON ONDOY
To help those who are still trying to get their lives back to normal after the devastation of typhoon Ondoy, the Kasangga Mo Ang Langit Foundation headed by REY LANGIT led volunteers in conducting relief operations in Cainta and Marikina City. The KMaL Foundation gathered and received donations from various private institutions and private individuals for clothing, blankets, canned goods and other supplies. All these were then distributed to more than 1000 families in the said devastated area. Cainta was one of the municipalities that sustained a great number of damages and in some areas, flood waters have not yet subsided over a month after the disaster. Rey Langit group headed over to Cainta a few weeks after the devastating storm and found that many of the residents have not yet been able to go back to their homes because some areas are still underwater. This is especially true for people who do not have a second-floor in their homes. Over a thousand victims have not been able to leave the evacuation centers and because of the threat of more storms and the presence of flood waters, it is still uncertain when or whether they will still be able to go back. Rey Langit and the KMaL Foundation Team also visited the evacuation center in Tañong and Concepcion Integrated School both in Marikina City. Brgy. Tañong is part of Provident Village which was submerged during the onslaught of typhoon Ondoy. Many of the families in the evacuation centers consist of parents and anywhere from four to six children and were born one year apart. So you can just imagine the families’ difficulty in securing a new home for their large brood The DWIZ fire truck was also on hand to assist in the clean up operations being done on the school after being used as an evacuation center for the residents of the district. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt thanks to the assistance extended to them by the Kasangga Mo Ang Langit Foundation. Despite the outpouring of support from various organizations, much remains to be done and much remains lacking. According to Rey Langit, the foundation will continue their activities in other areas as long as there are people who are in need of help. BALIK ESKWELA, LIBRENG GAMIT at MATRIKULAPeople say education is the key to success and we in the Kasangga Mo ang Langit Foundation believe this wholeheartedly. Still, however, many Filipino youths are deprived of their right to be educated due to poverty and lack of infrastructure. This is true in a small sitio in Barangay Lumaniag, Lian, Batangas where children traverse a long dirt road pocked with potholes just to get to school. In the rainy season, the road is muddy, and during the dry months, dust flies everywhere, choking the children. This is why Pastora Francita Ucat decided to establish the Christ Life Foundation Academy for the youths of Sitio Paye. She envisioned a school that would provide education for the area’s youth with the help of a volunteer teacher. The school has limitations however, as they do not have the proper facilities necessary to fully enhance the potential of their locale’s youths. The school also lacked tables and chairs so the Kasangga Mo ang Langit Foundation gladly gave them a few. With the help of our generous sponsors, the Kasangga Mo ang Langit Foundation was able to grant scholarships to six fortunate children, four teens in high school and two children in grade school. CHILD’s MOMENTS at SPLASH
The Kasangga Mo ang Langit brought deaf children and foundation’ss hearing impaired scholars for a day of fun and games in Splash Island, Binan, Laguna. Just before classes opened, the Kasangga Mo ang Langit Foundation, with the invaluable support of many individuals and groups, brought the deaf children to Splash Island to celebrate not just the start of another school year for them but also the graduation from high school of one of our scholars, Lea Melissa Monjardin. The kids truly enjoyed the amenities of the resort as well as the water games. The foundation would like to thank Mr. Sonny Torres of Splash Island who graciously invited us to celebrate this momentous occasion in their excellent resort. The event would also not have been possible without the help of representatives from the Link Center for the Deaf, LTFRB and HM Bus who provided a shuttle for the kids to and from the resort, Binalot, McDonald’s and CEMG for the kids meal, KBP Metro Manila Chapter, and of course, broadcaster Raoul Esperas who facilitated and coordinated the event. A million thanks are in order for all of you. KULAY NG PASKO SA DILIMFor many people, losing one’ss sight is tantamount to losing one’ss life. But a group of blind musicians prove otherwise. The band members whom we met through our program Kasangga Mo ang Langit never stopped believing that even without the gift of sight, life still goes on. Their joy in living becomes apparent in their music. True to the commitment of the Kasangga Mo ang Langit Foundation which was established by my late son Reyster before his untimely demise, we spread Christmas cheer to them last December. With the help of our generous sponsors and donors, we were able to give the members Christmas Hams and Noche Buena gift packs to make their holiday celebrations even brighter. LIBRENG TAWAG, MEDICAL MISSION LABAN SA DENGUE
The Kasangga Mo Ang Langit Foundation in cooperation with councilor Yul Cuervo of Manila, with the support of office of the President and the Shell Foundation conducted simultaneous medical check ups and distribution of treated mosquito nets and vitamins followed by “ Libreng Tawag sa Abroad” to the residents of Zone 38,of the 3rd District of Manila held at Aurora Blvd.cor Rizal Ave., last October 25, 2008. The said event gives opportunity to more than 20 callers to get in touch with their love ones across the country. Likewise, treated mosquito nets were given away to serve as their prevention to the increasing number of dengue cases in the community. Also, 4 boxes of medicines and vitamins were distributed through the volunteer doctors from Perpetual Hospital ABAKADA sa ISLA

The said program was also showered with food and parlor games sponsored by McDonalds partner of KMAL Foundation. TULONG SA KAPATIRAN NA NASA BILANGGUAN
The KMAL Foundation team visited the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City to donate sports materials such as basketball, volley ball, chess, boxing gloves, badminton and body building equipments with the hope that these would help the inmates pass the time constructively inside the prison walls; and some grocery items as an addition to there food and hygienic supply in the penitentiary.
